IRIS Software Systems appoints Marcus Bird as Head of Commercial

The leading provider of digital F&B and guest experience solutions strengthens its commercial team to meet the growing demand for mobile-first solutions

IRIS, the global provider of digital F&B and guest experience platforms, announced today that Marcus Bird has joined the company as Head of Commercial.

Marcus has joined IRIS at an exciting stage of growth which has seen the company increase F&B revenue through its platform by 41% year on year. The platform includes core features across digital F&B, guest directory and concierge solutions, all of which make it easier and faster for guests to browse, order and pay for items and services across multiple outlets.

An experienced technology leader, Marcus will be responsible for growing and developing the company’s portfolio of hotel groups and chains globally as well as managing major accounts and strategically consulting with prospects and partners.

Marcus was previously Senior Director, Global Accounts EMEA at Oracle Hospitality, responsible for account managing Oracle’s Tier 1 portfolio of hotels. The number of hotels under management significantly increased year on year. Prior to Oracle, Marcus was Hotels Director at Micros UK, responsible for all sales to UK hotels.

“I’ve known of IRIS for several years now and it’s an exciting time of growth and opportunity for the company – especially when demand for hotel technology that caters to multiple brands, tenants, and languages, and in particular mobile ordering solutions, is at an all-time high.

We have an impressive client base of hotels and high demand for our robust, scalable solutions.

I’m looking forward to working closely with our hoteliers to demonstrate how we can drive efficiencies, save staff resources, and meet the requirements for a mobile-first technology that delivers a more personalised, autonomous experience for both guests and operators.”

IRIS solutions are built with hotels and restaurants at the heart of what we do, enabling hoteliers to reach and engage with their guests in a way that suits them, drives ancillary revenue, and enhances the guest experience.

Over the last 12 months, several new features have been released, such as Open Tab, Split bill, Advance ordering, delivery time slots and new menu filters and price settings, to strengthen the capabilities and value that mobile ordering offers operators and guests.

The company has recently launched IRIS TECH VENTURES, where it’s seeking to grow its product portfolio and eco-system further by working with smaller technology businesses as a part of its growth and innovation strategy.
