JW Marriott Orlando Bonnet Creek Resort & Spa- Mobile dining
Hotel Overview
Located within the gates of Walt Disney World Resort, JW Marriott Orlando Bonnet Creek Resort & Spa is one of Florida's premier luxury destinations, offering guests 516 guestrooms and suites, multiple food and beverage outlets, a full-service luxury spa, a resort-style pool complex, and event and meeting spaces.
Food and beverage play a central role in the guest journey, with dining options ranging from in-room dining and grab-and-go offerings at The JW Market to Palm Grove, the resort's vibrant poolside dining experience.
The resort welcomes a diverse mix of leisure travellers, families, groups, and business guests throughout the year, and to meet their growing demand for digital experiences, the resort implemented IRIS Mobile Ordering across multiple areas of the property.
The Challenge
Like many hospitality businesses, JW Marriott Orlando Bonnet Creek recognised that guest expectations were evolving.
Guests increasingly wanted the flexibility to order food and beverages digitally, whether from their room, by the pool or while on the move around the resort. The team also wanted to provide guests with a contactless ordering option while maintaining the high standards of service expected from a luxury resort.
At the same time, fluctuating demand around the pool area, busy check-in periods and seasonal peaks created operational challenges for teams balancing guest service with growing order volumes.
The resort needed a solution that would improve convenience for guests and satisfy their thirst for digital experiences, while supporting staff and creating new revenue opportunities.
The Solution
IRIS Mobile Ordering, fully integrated with the hotel’s Micros POS system, to provide guests with a seamless digital dining experience throughout the resort:
In-room dining for all 516 guestrooms
Pick up from JW Market coffee shop, allowing guests to order ahead and collect
Palm Grove poolside dining, serving over 250 loungers, cabanas, day beds and seating areas
Guests can browse menus, view images, customise requests, add extras and place orders directly from their mobile devices.
The resort actively promotes mobile dining through QR codes located across guestrooms, poolside loungers and dining areas, ensuring guests can easily access menus wherever they are on property.
“IRIS has become a valuable extension of our team. It helps us expand our reach and enables guests to experience the resort to its full potential. It gives guests the flexibility to order how and when they want, while helping us maintain exceptional service levels, with minimal stress, throughout the resort.
We’ve seen strong guest adoption, increased order volumes and a 15% year-on-year increase in food and beverage revenue. Most importantly, it allows our associates to focus on delivering meaningful guest interactions while IRIS handles the ordering process.”
Benefits
15% increase in food & beverage revenue
IRIS mobile dining has enabled the resort to increase their food and beverage revenue by 15% year on year - mainly driven by consistently higher order volumes and guest spend.
By extending mobile ordering to Palm Grove poolside dining, the resort has unlocked new revenue opportunities and made it easier for guests to order throughout their stay.
The team also leverages menu imagery, upselling tools, modifiers and related item recommendations to encourage guests to personalise their orders and discover additional products.
Helping guests order on their terms
Guests appreciate the flexibility and convenience of ordering whenever and wherever they choose.
Whether relaxing by the pool, enjoying their room or grabbing coffee from JW Market, guests can place orders without waiting for a member of staff, creating a faster and more convenient experience.
The ability to customise orders and pre-order meals gives guests even greater control, helping the resort meet the expectations of today's digitally savvy traveller.
Supporting teams during busy periods
The resort experiences fluctuations in demand throughout the year, particularly around the pool where guest numbers can change quickly depending on occupancy levels and weather conditions.
IRIS helps the team manage these peaks by allowing more guests to place orders online without increasing pressure on staff.
The platform has also reduced the number of calls received by the front desk, particularly during busy check-in periods, freeing up associates to focus on delivering exceptional guest service.
As a result, staff can spend more time engaging with guests who want personal interaction while routine orders are handled digitally.
Faster service and greater accuracy
Because orders are submitted directly into the kitchen POS, guests receive a faster and more accurate service experience. The elimination of manual order taking reduces the risk of errors and miscommunication while helping kitchens fulfil orders more efficiently.
For guests, this means less waiting and more time enjoying the resort. For staff, it creates a smoother and less stressful operation.
Extending service beyond traditional operating hours
IRIS has also enabled the resort to continue serving guests outside normal operating hours.
When Palm Grove closes in the evening at 6pm, guests can still place food and beverage orders digitally from the pool area. Orders are routed directly to the in-room dining team, allowing the resort to continue serving guests and generating revenue during periods when the outlet would traditionally be unavailable.
This flexibility ensures guests receive consistent service while helping the resort maximise operational efficiency.
Driving strong guest adoption
Guest adoption has been extremely high across the resort. Located in one of the world's most popular leisure destinations, the property benefits from a guest demographic that is comfortable using mobile technology throughout their stay, with a keen interest in sustainability.
At the same time, IRIS complements rather than replaces traditional hospitality. Guests can still engage with team members whenever they choose, ensuring the resort maintains the personalised service experience if they so desire.
Looking ahead for further expansion
Following the success of mobile ordering across guestrooms, JW Market and Palm Grove, JW Marriott Orlando Bonnet Creek continues to explore opportunities to expand digital ordering across additional areas of the property.
By combining exceptional hospitality with innovative technology, the resort is continuing to maximise its food and beverage potential while giving guests more choice, convenience and control.
